Dvoinoye was purchased on August 27, 2010 and is 100% fully owned by Kinross.? It is approximately 100 kilometers north of Kinross' Kupol operation in the Chukotka region of the Russian Far East. The average gold grade is expected to be approximately 17.5 g/tonne and processing of Dvoinoye ore is targeted to commence in the second half of 2013.

Purpose of Role

To lead the execution of the strategy for human resources at the mine site, to ensure alignment with the organization?s long-term strategy. To manage the human resources function which includes employee relations, recruitment, job classification, compensation and benefits, training, performance appraisal systems, and HRIS for a mine site. To ensure continued growth of the team and to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

5. ?Assist in the development, coordination, and supervision of programs for employee recruitment, selection, training, and promotion to ensure effective staffing of all positions including responsibility for succession and developmental planning.

6. Plan and coordinate various employee relations programs, i.e., employee orientation, benefits counseling, employee policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and other programs as needed.

7.? ??Act as a coach / counselor or mediator in resolving inter and intra-departmental conflicts and issues.

8.? ??Manage ancillary operations (e.g. camp management) to optimize perception as a benefit of value to employees and to maintain a cost-effective benefit to the company.

9.? ?Manage relationships with legal counsel to ensure employee relations issues are handled in a positive way and courses of action take into account potential legal ramifications.

10.??Jointly with Regional Compensation Manager, implement compensation programs including processing any compensation related transactions, supporting managers with preparing job descriptions, monitoring local wage trends and maintaining records.

11.???Ensure that local employee benefit plans are administered appropriately, while ensuring compliance with Russian legislation and appropriate mine regulations.

12.??Monitor service levels from HR functions both within and outside Dvoinoye HR, including providers and consultants, ensuring service requirements of domestic and international employees are maintained at the highest levels. Raise any issues with Regional or Corporate HR in a timely manner to find positive resolution.

13.??Manage recruitment effort for all site personnel, students, and temporary employees; conduct new employee orientations; employee relations counseling and exit interviewing.

14.??Coordinate disability, retirement, and death benefit claims for staff, insurance carriers, and employees/dependents.

15.? ?Provide direction on all employee discipline and termination issues, where needed using legal counsel and other resources (regional or corporate HR).

16.? ?Provide functional guidance for administrative support staff (translators, office manager and camp management).

17.? Lead and manage a team responsible for executing HR strategy.

18.? ?Identify strategies and key performance goals and act as an advisor to direct reports, work to overcome challenges and barriers and minimize risk.

19.?Set performance targets and measures, monitor and manage overall performance of the team and direct reports.

20. Build the capabilities of the team to enhance their ability to achieve financial and operating strategy; hire appropriately, leverage the talents of the team and take corrective action where necessary.

21.?Ensure the timely and accurate communication of information to employees to maximize participation, knowledge and appreciation of employee benefit programs.

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements


  • Bachelor?s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • Able to fluently communicate in both written and spoken English (full professional proficiency)
  • Additional specialized education of up to 2 years, preferred
  • More than 5 years of related work experience, preferably within the natural resources industry with remote operations experience
  • Human Resources certification preferred, or thorough knowledge and understanding of company and corporate policies, as well as labor relations, wage and hour, and other employment laws
